It has been a busy few weeks for the Music Department with Music Scholarships, concerts and competitions so the staff are particularly pleased with the successes at the recent Taunton Festival of the Arts when students returned to school with a clutch of awards.

Catrin Win Morgan, Head of Strings at Sherborne Girls, explained: “The Taunton Festival of the Arts is highly regarded and attracts young musicians of the highest calibre from across the region so it is an excellent reflection of the dedication of the girls and the teaching which makes the Music Department so vibrant across all year groups at school.

“We are thrilled for the girls who have practised so hard towards improving their performance skills and managed to do so alongside their studies.”

The full list of winning musicians and groups comprised:

The String Orchestra won the Vivienne Price Memorial Cup.
