Based in the picture-postcard market town of Sherborne in north-west Dorset, our location is steeped in heritage with gorgeous medieval properties, a magnificent Abbey and the Sherborne family of schools all nestled in the beautiful Dorset countryside. Within easy travelling distance of London with direct train links to Waterloo, a choice of local airports and easy access to the A303 and A30 we think we have the best of all worlds.

Joining Sherborne Girls

All new staff are given a full induction and support to ensure a smooth transition for all.

Our staff make a full commitment to the School’s full boarding ethos.  Our teaching staff undertake occasional weekend duties, make a significant contribution to the pastoral side of the school, including tutorial duties and liaison with a boarding house, and contribute towards the co-curricular provision of the school.   We encourage our support staff to be continuously engaged in their role by providing opportunities to participate in the wider life of our School, such as taking part in trips or societies and involvement in projects.

Director of Sport (Maternity Cover)

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and inspirational Director of Sport to lead our extensive sports and activities programme, both in curriculum and co-curricular time.

We are proud of our comprehensive competitive sports programme which utilises the Schools excellent sporting facilities, including a 25m six-lane swimming pool, 27 tennis courts (including grass courts) a floodlit Astro pitch, lacrosse pitches, climbing and bouldering walls, a superbly equipped fitness suite, spin zone and high performance gym.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a high performance sports environment and be passionate about sport within education.

This is a fixed term, maternity cover post to start 26 August 2025.

Hockey Coach

Sherborne Girls have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and inspiring Hockey Coach to join our thriving Sports department from September 2025.

The successful candidate will have a Level 2 Coaching Qualification in Hockey and will play a pivotal role in inspiring, coaching and nurturing talent to facilitate excellence in the sport.

Artist in Residence

The Artist in Residence will support the work of the Art and Design department at Sherborne Girls for the academic year 2025-26.

This is an exciting role that would suit somebody who would like to gain experience in secondary teaching, curatorship and event organisation alongside developing their practice. The Artist in Residence will have an established practice with scope for continued development within the residency.

This is a term-time only role and accommodation will be provided.

Tutor of Dutch

Sherborne Girls require an experienced Dutch Tutor to provide one-to-one tutoring from September 2025.

The successful candidate will have experience is teaching Dutch and have excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.

Resident Graduate Assistant/Undergraduate Intern

Sherborne Schools Group have an exciting opportunity for Resident Graduate Assistants/Undergraduate Interns to join us for the academic year 2025-26.

These roles are multi-faceted positions and you will be involved in both academic and co-curricular areas of the school.

Cleaner

Our cleaning staff perform a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance of a safe, clean and hygienic environment. Key duties will include the vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping of floors, corridors and rooms. Cleaning bathrooms and toilets and ensuring that cleaning materials are safely stored.

We have the following year-round role available:

Monday - Friday 09:00 - 15:00 and every other Saturday 08:30 - 12:30

Salary £20,384 per annum

This is currently a fixed term contract until September with the possibility of going permanent.

Teacher of Biology

Teacher of Chemistry

We have an exciting opportunity for an outstanding full time Teacher of Chemistry to join us from September 2025.

Chemistry is often referred to as ‘The Central Science’ and, consequently, is a very popular subject at Sherborne Girls and always attracts a good number of committed and dedicated pupils to study the subject at A Level.
