Our library, run by Mrs Noble-Watts and Mrs Davidson, is a welcoming environment in which to study and relax. The space is divided into two key areas: a large, traditional library which offers the opportunity for focused, quiet study, and a second space in which students may work on group projects or simply relax.
The library holds an excellent physical collection of academic material in every subject, both essential texts and additional sources. All staff and students also have access to electronic material including JSTOR Journal Archive and Britannica online. Library staff are always happy to offer personalised help with finding high quality, reliable information for projects and coursework, as well as study skills and referencing advice.
Our book collection also includes a great selection of classic and modern fiction, graphic novels and manga, and the library staff are very keen to recommend the best books!
A number of clubs, including two Book Clubs, Crochet Club, D&D Club and Board Games Club, are run through the library.
Wi-fi, PCs, colour printing and photocopying are all fully available throughout the day and evening, and the library catalogue can be accessed remotely from any computer in school, and from home, 24/7.
The Library is staffed Monday to Friday: 8.30am - 6pm and Saturday: 8.30am - 12.00pm.
Mrs Noble-Watts says:
"The library at Sherborne Girls is a warm, welcoming space for the girls to read for pleasure, work independently and collaborate on projects together."
I passionately believe that the library should be at the heart of the school, supporting our girls both academically and in their free time.
"It’s incredibly important that our girls feel supported and welcome in the library, and Mrs Davidson and I pride ourselves on the fact that this is a place they want to be and feel ownership of. We aim to make this an inclusive, accessible space with relevant and inspiring resources so that every girl can be enriched through time spent with us. There is no better feeling than seeing a child blossom through a love of reading."
