Sherborne Girls Celebrates A Level Success

We wish the Class of 2024 all the very best as they leave Sherborne Girls.  

Today we celebrate the achievement of our Upper Sixth cohort who have achieved an impressive set of A Level results with 52% of examinations passed with A*/A grades and a third of the cohort achieving three or more A*/A grades. Alongside their A Levels, 60% of the cohort completed EPQs, with 45% achieving A*/A. 

We are delighted that of those pupils applying, 97% have secured a place at one of their chosen universities including UCL, Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, Edinburgh, Royal Agricultural University, as well as conservatoires and competitive arts schools. All of our pupils with offers at Oxford or Cambridge exceeded their A Level grade requirements. 

As the School marks 125 years of educating young women to go out into the world and make a difference, it is pleasing to see the breadth of challenging and inspiring courses that the pupils are going on to pursue. These include Architecture, Classics and French, Criminology, English and History, Fashion Design, Filmmaking, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Medicine, Politics and French, and Theology and Religion. We also recognise those pupils who have decided to pause before applying to university to explore alternative career or higher education routes. In some cases, these pupils have secured three A*/A grades giving them infinite options to consider.  

Dr Ruth Sullivan, Head, commented on the results: “Our congratulations go to our outgoing Upper Sixth. They have been a standout cohort who have shown themselves to be young women of character and independence who have made a marked positive impact on the pupil body as a whole. The girls have worked incredibly hard at their academic studies alongside a full co-curricular programme, and these results are a fitting reflection of their dedication and perseverance. We wish them joy, success, and fulfilment as they embark on the next exciting step into their future.”
