Exams

Sherborne Girls in Dorset is celebrating the achievement of all of its Upper Sixth pupils, 94% of whom today secured places at a university of their choice, to study a variety of contrasting and exciting courses, including Material Sciences at Oxford, Fine Art at Edinburgh, History of Art at UCL, Sociology at Durham, Liberal Arts at Exeter, Civil Engineering at Imperial College, Medicine at St Andrews, Accounting and Finance at Warwick and Sound Engineering at Plymouth Marjon.

In a year that has seen unparalleled disruption to the public examination system, the Headmistress, Dr Ruth Sullivan, commented that, “This cohort of students has dealt admirably with what has been an incredibly difficult and tumultuous few months, and I and the rest of the staff at Sherborne Girls could not be prouder of each and every one of them. They have had to navigate an ever-changing landscape since public examinations were cancelled on Wednesday 18 March and we applaud them for the resilience and stoicism they have shown throughout.”

Following the Government’s announcement less than 48 hours ago of a ‘triple lock’ addition to grades awarded, and some unconfirmed IB results, we have decided not to publish a breakdown of our examination results at this stage as uncertainty remains over which grades individuals will eventually use, and we believe that doing so would, at present, serve little purpose and detract from our key message of congratulating this cohort on getting through the most difficult of circumstances.
