Eighteen girls from U5 to U6 attended Clayesmore’s Model United Nations conference, representing Spain, Ethiopia and the UK. Having spent three weeks writing resolutions to solve the world’s most contentious issues, the conference was a brilliant culmination of research and hard work. Each girl participated in a different committee, ranging from the United Nations Security Council to the Human Rights Committee. Among the topics discussed were: the rise of far-right extremism in Europe; the question of Catalan independence; and the Rohingya crisis.
Overall, it was a brilliant day and an excellent experience, concluding with a meeting of the General Assembly in which over a hundred delegates came together to pass some final resolutions. Congratulations to Olivia, Charlotte, Amelia, Hannah, and Chloe, who were all awarded commendations for their efforts. In particular, special congratulations go to Phoebe, who was highly commended.
