We are delighted to announce that Sherborne Girls has been awarded Best Public School of the Year at the Tatler Schools Awards 2017

Jenny Dwyer, Headmistress, accepted the award at the Tatler Awards Ceremony in London last night. She was joined by Heads of School, Harriet and Grace, and Vice Heads, Amelia and Flora.

Over the past ten years, Jenny has led a strategy at Sherborne Girls focused on growth and development. The school has invested boldly in its facilities including a new Sixth Form Centre, refurbished boarding houses, a new science centre, swimming pool and Astro pitch. Bucking the trend, Sherborne Girls has also grown its student roll year on year and is proud to have its largest cohort ever of over 485 girls.

This prestigious Tatler Award comes at the end of a particularly successful year for the school. Sherborne girls achieved another outstanding set of exam results this summer across GCSE, A Level and IB, with seven girls taking up places at Oxbridge in September. The school was also delighted to announce a double ‘Excellent’ rating in the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Educational Quality Inspection in March. And, most recently, it ‘broke ground’ on a new performing Arts Centre, a transformational development in the heart of the school, which is due to be completed in early 2019.

Jenny Dwyer commented on the award, “It is such a privilege to accept this award on behalf of all the girls and staff at Sherborne Girls. Every member of the school has contributed to us being recognised by Tatler as the Best Public School of the Year and I could not be more proud of our Sherborne Girls community. We have recently launched our new five-year plan which is focused on ambition and community, and ensuring our educational philosophy is embedded throughout the school. This award gives us such confidence, as well as a really strong platform, on which to build and move forward.”

The Heads of School added, “The Tatler Schools Awards Ceremony was a very enjoyable evening which was made even better by this well-deserved award, a testament to the school and Mrs Dwyer's tireless efforts."
