Academic Admissions

Following on from Thursday’s impressive A Level results, Sherborne Girls in Dorset is celebrating the achievement of its Upper Fifth (Year 11) pupils today who have secured an excellent set of GCSE results.

For a cohort who were significantly impacted by the pandemic during key points of their educational journey, we are delighted that the girls have secured grades of which they can be very proud. Over a third of the cohort secured nine or more grades at 7, 8 or 9 with over three quarters of pupils achieving one or more grade 8. An impressive 80% of results were graded 6 and above, with 43% of pupils having sat 10 or more i/GCSE subjects.

Particular congratulations go to Rose SS, Sarah Z, Kate C, Tamara A, Kythe C and Lucy H, who all achieved seven or more grade 9s.

Commenting on the results, Head, Dr Ruth Sullivan said, “I am so pleased that this cohort who had such an unsettled start to their senior schooling have not let this deter them. Thanks to their hard work and resilience, they have secured some excellent and well-deserved results, alongside a myriad of other achievements outside the classroom. At a time when there is so much publicity and uncertainty surrounding grade continuity, it is wonderful to see these girls accomplish so much. I wish them continued success as they build on this strong foundation and embark on their A Level programme at Sherborne Girls, along with the new girls joining us in Sixth Form.”

Our congratulations also go to the boys at Sherborne School on their superb results. As the boys and girls move into Sixth Form, we are sure they will enjoy the wealth of opportunities across the academic enrichment, co-curricular and social programmes, resulting from the two schools’ unique ‘Separate, yet together’ relationship.
