Art students in U5 (Year 11) took a trip to Roche Court Sculpture Park at East Winterslow near Salisbury to complement their current studies.
Roche Court is a commercial Sculpture park with an education centre which provided bespoke, guided workshops for our girls based on their two coursework themes of ‘Close Up in Nature’ and ‘The Future’.
The day provided an excellent opportunity for the girls to draw and learn about works of art in the safety of their bubble environment. The highlight for many was to see the stone sculptures of Peter Randall-Page which they learnt about in M5 (Year 10).
Mrs Diggle Perry, Teacher of Art, explained: “For myself, the exhibition called ‘Tacet’ by Edmund de Waal was inspirational. The work which was created with stone, alabaster, gold and porcelain during lockdown resonated a moment of shared experience.
“I felt the students connected with the stillness and capsulating reinvention of the ‘still life’ and our connection of touch. As ever our girls were engaged in their learning, making the very most of a rare educational trip out, even if it did rain!”
