Sherborne Girls was delighted to achieve a double excellent rating (the highest award possible) in its ISI Educational Quality Inspection in March. The new ISI framework, which measures the achievement of students academically and in other areas, as well as their personal development, is particularly relevant to Sherborne Girls, which strongly believes that breadth of opportunity and experience are integral to its offering and a key factor in the school’s success.

Such success was evident in this year’s exam results: 65% of GCSE papers were awarded A* or A, and combining A Level and IB scores, over 50% of grades were A*/A or 7/6. Such outstanding results secured the girls a crop of fantastic university places, including a record seven Sherborne girls taking up places at Oxbridge this September.

Sherborne girls also demonstrated excellence in a range of other areas over the summer. Graduating student, Becky Stagg, was praised for her ‘captivating and lyrical’ performance which gained her The Associateship Diploma from Trinity College London for Clarinet. Meanwhile, Year 11, Ellie Miller’s play ‘Kites’ was long-listed for the National Theatre’s New Views Competition, in which over 300 writers across the country from Years 10-13 entered 30-minute plays based on challenging, real-life issues.

Sixth formers, Araminta Stubbs and Annabel Harris, also achieved notable sporting success. Araminta secured her place in the GB Target Sprint Squad having won Silver at the National Championships in September, while Annabel won Gold (kumite) and Silver (kata) representing the World Karate Society’s England Squad against Ireland earlier in the summer.

Following such a run of success, Sherborne Girls was delighted to be awarded Best Public School of the Year at the Tatler Schools Awards 2017 on 11 September!
