Athletics Target Sprint

Emily performed exceptionally well at the British Shooting Target Sprint National Finals by winning a silver medal in the Junior Women's event.

Qualifiying in the second fastest time of 6min:17:0 in the heats (behind Old Girl Araminta), Emily advanced to the final.

In a final field consisting of nine contestants, the lead changed several times in the first lap but it was the first round of shooting that separated the pack. Araminta shot a perfect 5/5 and left the shooting area first, starting the second lap with a substantial lead. Emily was not far behind, leaving the shoot in fourth position. Emily ran a very well-paced second lap and passed a number of opposition, returning in second position.

In the second and final shooting round, Araminta produced another outstanding display of shooting and again lead the field into the final lap. Emily shot well and started the final lap in 3rd place. Araminta was too far ahead to catch and the battle began for the 2nd and 3rd placings.

Emily steadily clawed back the gap between her and 2nd place with each stride and with a well-timed sprint finish Emily claimed 2nd place in an outstanding time of 6min:00.0, beating 3rd place by 2 seconds.

Araminta who is Emily's training partner from last term, won the event in 5min:35:5.

This is a fantastic result for Emily and Old Girl, Aramimta. Well done girls.
